Property rights serve as protection for women in Columbia where typically a house is owned by their husband and then inherited by their sons. The main purpose in organizing the City of Women was to create homes owned by women.
Beautiful houses built by women once homeless and without their own property, now serves as an example for rebuilding efforts in Columbia after the Civil War that displaced millions of people.
